New building at Evotec: 12,000 sqm for iPSC focus

Evotec SE celebrated the ground-breaking for the expansion of its research site, the Manfred Eigen Campus, on Friday. The new building will expand Evotec's Hamburg site by approximately 12,000 square meters by mid-2024. The expansion areas, which will be used primarily for iPSC research laboratories, offer space for almost 250 additional employees.

The site management team at Evotec's Hamburg headquarters, Claudia Karnbach and Gabriele Hansen, were satisfied: „We are very pleased to have broken ground today for the new laboratory building together with the BEOS team. The new building gives us the opportunity to grow further at our headquarters and thus to further accelerate the research and development of precision medicine."

Evotec currently employs around 700 people in Hamburg and more than 4,000 people in all 15 international locations. Evotec's iPSC (induced pluripotent stem cell) platform is used to develop cell models from diseased patients to screen compounds for drug validation in the laboratory. In addition to the partnership with Bristol Myers Squibb, the Hamburg-based company had announced a research partnership with Boehringer Ingelheim in January. This cooperation focuses on the modelling of eye diseases using iPS cells and the discovery of target structures and active agents.
