Cash market turnover in February up by nearly 60 percent year-on-year


Due to the increased volatility on the financial markets in the last week of February, monthly volumes on Deutsche Börse's cash market platforms were significantly higher than in the previous year. In February, trading volumes amounted to €183.0 billion compared with €116.0 billion year-on-year, which corresponds to an increase of almost 60 percent. With 2.8 million orders executed and a trading volume of €18.6 billion, last Friday (28 February) was the day with the highest trading volume on Xetra since 2008.

Of the total of €183.0 billion euros, €153.8 billion were attributable to Xetra (previous year: €104.0 billion), bringing the average daily Xetra trading volume to €7.7 billion (previous year: €5.2 billion). Trading volume on Börse Frankfurt was €5.6 billion (previous year: €2.8 billion) and on Tradegate Exchange €23.6 billion (previous year: €9.2 billion).

The DAX stock with the highest turnover on Xetra in February was SAP SE with €7.0 billion. Commerzbank AG led the MDAX equities with €1.6 billion, while RIB Software SE led the SDAX index with €625 million. In the ETF segment, the iShares Core DAX UCITS ETF generated the largest volume with €1.0 billion.
