New bond ETF from iShares on Xetra: access to long-term government bonds from the eurozone with an aggregate duration of around 20 years
A new exchange-traded fund from iShares has been tradable on Xetra and Börse Frankfurt since Friday.
The iShares € Govt Bond 20yr Target Duration UCITS ETF offers investors access to a portfolio of fixed rate, euro-denominated, investment-grade government bonds issued by eurozone governments. The bonds must have a residual maturity of at least 15 years at the time of portfolio rebalancing. The underlying benchmark index, the Markit iBoxx EUR Eurozone 20yr Target Duration Index, reflects an aggregate duration of around 20 years. The duration varies between 19 and 21 years and is adjusted monthly.
Duration measures how long, in years, it takes for an investor to be repaid the price of a bond by the bond’s total cash flows.
